isn't it ironic?

I came to love, admire and adore Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House, which, to be honest, I wish I had done sooner. Hugh was already known by his fans (more commonly by the ones who live in Britain) as part of the double act "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" and "Jeeves and Wooster", with Stephen Fry (whom I also have great respect and admiration for). To be honest, I'm currently thinking about buying all those DVD boxed sets that feature him (the two above, and then "Blackadder"), just because I wanted to see how he did really work as a British comedian back then. What do you think?

I was actually tensed last night during the primetime run of the Golden Globe Awards. It's silly I know, especially that the reason for that was only because I wanted House (the TV show) to win so badly.

I remember watching last year's (2006) Golden Globe Awards, when Hugh Laurie won that award for the first time. I never expected that he would win, although I secretly wished that. (Heehee.) But anyway, his speech for last year was very amusing, when he attempted to randomly thank anyone by drawing names from his pockets. Until recently, I actually didn't know that aside from Hugh's wife, Jo, Stephen Fry was also there to support him.

Interesting fact from the 2006 Golden Globe Awards: Geena Davis won the Best Actress in a TV Series (Drama) award. She played Stuart's mom in all Stuart Little movies, while Hugh played Stuart's dad. Ironic, isn't it?

Back to this year. I found it very odd that since the 2006 awards, House has been nominated for only one category (and has won it too!), which is the Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series (Drama). I mean I don't really get it. Maybe I just get that Hugh deserves all this for his work on House, and believe me, I'll hurt someone ever so badly if he didn't win. But the fact that House (the character) is not the only thing that's good, but also the entirety of the show, it definitely deserves to win too, don't you agree?

And to think that Hugh's competitors were Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy), Kiefer Sutherland (24), Matthew Fox (Lost), Wentworth Miller (Prison Break, also by FOX), Bill Paxton (Big Love) and Michael C. Hall (Dexter). Let's all admit that they have every right to win this thing, but I can NEVER EVER imagine anyone else playing the role of House other than Hugh. Besides, it's like an award for everything he's done aside from House. He clearly deserves it.
